Roseville Joint Union High School District Parental Rights
Statement
Parents have the right to:
- Enter schools that celebrate and validate the language and
culture of all children;
- Have district employees communicate with you in a language you
understand;
- Have school site office personnel make all efforts to
communicate effectively and comprehensively with you;
- Receive parent notification in a language you are able to
understand;
- Be an active participant in your childs
education;
- Request parent conferences, including meetings with the
principal and staff;
- Form and participate in an English Learner Advisory Committee
at your childs school;
- Form and participate in the District English Learner Advisory
Committee;
- Participate in School Site Councils and any other parental
organization.
- Be provided with a full written description and, upon your
request, a spoken description of courses of study and all
educational opportunities offered by the school district and
available to your child;
- Be provided with a full written description of the educational
materials to be used in the programs available in the school;
- Be informed of any change in your childs
educational placement before it occurs;
- Decline placement for your child in structured
English-language immersion and request placement in an
English-language Mainstream Program;
- Refuse to agree to a parental exception waiver to allow
placement of your child in a primary-language class;
- Receive parental exception waiver procedures in writing and,
if requested, provided orally;
- Be informed in writing of the waiver approval, in a timely
manner;
- Be informed in writing of the reason(s) for any waiver
denials, in a timely manner;
- Be informed of the procedure for appealing any waivers.
