The District seeks to implement a more robust parent involvement pgoram, based on the research and writing of Dr.Joyce Epstein. Dr. Epstein defines six types of parent involvemtn in theschools, which are:

"parental involvement is associated with higher student achievement outcomes. These findings emerged consistently whether the outcome measures were grades, standardized test scores, or a variety of other measures, including teacher ratings" (Jaynes 2005)

Key Strategies

Several key strategies for improving the parent involvement component of the district are in the process of being implemented. These are:

Continuing the relationship with PIQE to provide parent education programs, rotating among the various sites.
Continue linking Yes We Can with site-based ELAC meetings.
    Continuing "New Parent" orientations
Seeking sustainable funding for Roseville Connected (grant funded).
Expanding the community outreach for families of under-performing students.
Training teachers at each site to provide parent education programs.
Expanding outreach for volunteerism in service of the school sites.
